'Huge Blow' - BBC Sport pundit worries for one Everton player who struggled in first half

The striker made his first start of the season having suffered injury issues throughout pre-season and the last campaign and picked up yet another knock in the first half against Villa as he collided with Emi Martinez and was forced off after less than 40 minutes. As Calvert-Lewin flew in to head home a cross he collided with the Argentine stopper, with both players falling to a heap in the floor before the forward got to his feet with a large bruise just below his eye. Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, as on (Saturday 20 August, 2:14), “Dominic Calvert-Lewin is struggling, I can see Abdoulaye Doucoure wave over to the bench to say he is struggling. “Could be a huge blow if he has to go off.” You have to feel for Calvert-Lewin at the moment, the striker just isn’t able to stay fit and this seemed like quite possibly the most unfortunate injury yet for the England international. The cross was there to be met as it hung in the area and the forward timed his run well but just couldn’t beat Martinez to the ball there was nothing he could have done to avoid the dangerous contact. What makes him such a good striker is how committed physically he is upfront and if you were to take that out of his game he wouldn’t be half the player that he is at the moment, hopefully, this is just a minor injury. Sean Dyche’s options up front aren’t exactly well stocked, with Neal Maupay and Arnaut Danjuma waiting in the wings as well as new signing Youseff Chermiti. If this is another dangerous injury for Calvert-Lewin, Everton may have to dip into the transfer market again.
