Everton to make fresh bid for int'l attacker in 'next days' - Fabrizio Romano

Writing on his personal Twitter account (18 August), the reliable transfer journalist reports that the Toffees are set to make another move for the Italy international after already having three bids rejected. Gnonto submitted a on Friday (18 August) and is pushing to leave Elland Road in “any way” as he looks to secure a move to Goodison Park. “Leeds United insist on their position: no plans to sell Willy Gnonto,” he wrote. “Player side, pushing to find any way after written transfer request. “Everton are prepared to try again in the next days. Gnonto, not training with the squad and determined to leave.” If Everton are so insistent on getting Gnonto to come to the club and be part of the squad, then the deal not happening will be solely down to them at this point. The player has done all he can realistically to get the move, but if we don’t pay up to get Leeds to agree to a sale then it would all be for nothing. But with that said we clearly have a budget in mind for the position and aren’t willing to go above it, so a decision really needs to be made in the coming days about whether we go ahead with this or not. With about two weeks remaining of the transfer window the club will know that if Gnonto can’t be done, they simply have to move on to another target to ensure that Sean Dyche’s squad isn’t left short in a key area once again. It’s going to be a big week in this ongoing saga, but Everton seem to have the upper hand right now with the Whites up against a wall.
