Michael Parkinson fans in tears over BBC tribute and issue same demand
Viewers tuning in to a tribute programme for Michael Parkinson were left in tears as they issued the same demand to the BBC . The show - Parkinson at 50 - was a repeat as the host looked back on some of the stellar celebrity interviews he had conducted with his son and producer Mike, from his first with Mick Jagger to awkward scenes with Muhammad Ali. The legendary broadcaster best known for hosting the talkshow Parkinson from 1971 to 2007, died today aged 88 . A statement from his family said: “After a brief illness Sir Michael Parkinson passed away peacefully at home last night in the company of his family. “The family request that they are given privacy and time to grieve.” But while viewers loved the emotional tribute to Michael, they have begged the BBC to replay his legendary interviews in full. "I was completely shocked because I only spoke to him yesterday. We had a long chat yesterday," he told Sky News. "I know he hasn't been well, he hasn't been well at all, and his voice yesterday - it didn't sound as if it was strong. It was a weak voice. I knew then there was something wrong with him."
