Wisconsin CISO Alan Greenberg Out, Position Currently Vacant
Wisconsin’s Division of Enterprise Technology has confirmed that former CISO Alan Greenberg has left the position. He had served in the role since May of 2021. “We are in the process of hiring a new CISO,” wrote a spokesperson from the state’s communications office in an email to . In a message to Greenberg wrote his departure was “not quite planned,” but declined to share details. He wrote that he’s currently looking for a new opportunity with an interest in the private sector or higher education. According to the , the then-CISO established a K-12 education program to enhance cybersecurity education in Wisconsin. The cybersecurity initiative launched in the fall of 2022 at 15 schools. During his time as CISO, he managed a campaign to , the state’s Cyber Response Team (CRT). In March, the state announced the team had grown from 119 members in the last two years to more than 400 when its , a division of the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs. According to Greenberg’s , before he became the Wisconsin CISO, he served as the chief information security officer for HII Technical Solutions, a corporate organization that provides large-scale solutions to the federal government. Greenberg also served as the CISO for the University of Arkansas from 2017 to 2019.
