A major road in West Belfast is closed this Friday afternoon following a road traffic collision. One person has been taken to hospital following an incident on the Shankill Road at around lunchtime. Police say the Shankill Road country-bound lane is currently closed following a crash near the junction with Crimea Street. In a statement this afternoon, the PSNI said: "Road users are advised that the Shankill Road country-bound lane is currently closed following a road traffic collision near the junction with Crimea Street. "Please avoid the area and seek an alternative route for your journey." The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said it received a 999 call at 12:34 on Friday, 18 August following reports of an RTC in the Shankill Road Area, Belfast. A spokesperson added: "NIAS despatched two emergency crews to the incident. Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital by ambulance."
