Seven-year-old Carter Bungard was playing footy with his dad at the Charlottes Vineyard Oval in Ellenbrook, northeast Perth , at 6.30pm on Tuesday when he was attacked by a large dog described as a bull mastiff. He suffered gashes and bites on his head and chest as well as a fractured nose and was rushed to hospital where he underwent cosmetic surgery . Carter's mother Pryncess Adamson described the ordeal as 'every parent's worst nightmare' and said the family day ended up looking 'like a murder scene'. 'We're not talking just your normal puncture, there [are] scratches all the way through his whole face,' she told Nine News . Ms Adamson said her son had asked the owner if he could pat the dog, which was on a leash, before it suddenly lunged at Carter. 'I've taught my kids to always ask before you pat and they just love animals, now he's said to me a couple times, "I don't want to go near dogs again, I don't like dogs anymore",' she said. A similarly terrifying dog attack in Queensland's southeast saw a woman hospitalised and her pup put in a cone. Lynn Whelan and her border collie, Abby, were set upon by three vicious dogs while at the off-leash Rex Hawkes Park in Ipswich, west of Brisbane, on Tuesday afternoon. A witness said the dogs attacked Mrs Whelan and her dog one-by-one until the owner eventually stepped in. The owner pried his dogs from Mrs Whelan's arm and around Abby's neck before he and his dogs allegedly fled the park. Mrs Whelan's husband, Mark, described the moment he picked her and their dog up from the park. 'Just makes me wonder if it was a kid, like a baby or a younger child. '[The owner] should be held accountable and something should happen to the dogs, unfortunately.' Mrs Whelan underwent surgery on her arm on Wednesday while Abby received stitches and a cone from the vet.
