Screaming couple begs cruise ship not to leave without them after showing up late

Footage has emerged of a couple screaming for a cruise ship to wait for them after they showed up late. The unlucky couple were quayside at the port of Bari in Italy earlier this month as the MSC Splendida was departing for a nine-day tour around the Mediterranean. As the duo made their way belatedly to the dock where the 1,100 ft ship had been, the male passenger was heard shouting: "Is the captain there, please? Captain, wait for us, please. You can do it if you want to." Thousands of passengers were on board the ship, with some event chuckling in the background as the desperate couple tried to make their way on board. The tourists begged the ship's captain to wait after missing their cruise ship in Bari, Italy ( Image: CEN) Some passengers laughed as they watched on, while others slammed the cruise's crew for not letting them on ( Image: CEN) One person filming on the £8,000 cruise could be heard saying filming said to another passenger: "What is he saying? What does it mean? Oh, maybe he missed the cruise." A passenger on board, who didn't want to be named, slammed the crew for not letting them on board, MailOnline reports . She said: "I was on that cruise with my family when it happened. We were at lunch when they made only one announcement for two Italian-sounding names and then nothing further. "The cruise didn't leave even a minute over time. We felt there was little to no effort to find those people whether they were there or not." Ugo Patroni Griffi, president of the Port System Authority of the Southern Adriatic Sea, explained: "They tried to ask the ship to turn back, or at least to stop operations. Obviously, it is impossible for cruise ships that have limited times and are also very expensive operations." Another person reacting to the video said: "I understand that the fault lies with the gentleman, unfortunately if you do it once then everyone demands it. The cruise has timetables and they must be respected. But, guys, let's put ourselves in their shoes! We would all have been desperate." Tickets can cost up to £8,000 ( Image: Shutterstock / ODIN Daniel) Another added: "If they go over by even 10 minutes they have to pay for the mooring for a whole day... If you arrive late, take the ship to the next port." The MSC Splendida weighs 137,936 tons. The ship by MSC Cruises has 18 decks on which 4,363 passengers and about 1,370 crew members can stay.
