A SCHOOLGIRL was raped in a playground by a teen who "didn't care" how old she was. The 11-year-old had been with a group of people in the park in Birmingham when the horror unfolded. Kyrel Denham, now aged 20, attacked the schoolgirl just days after his 18th birthday. He has now been jailed for three years and seven months after he admitted rape. In a victim impact statement, the girl told how she has been scared to leave the house and was bullied over the attack. She added: "I want my life back." Sentencing, Judge Avik Mukherjee said: "I concluded it was obvious she was very young, even in school uniform she was still very young. "You made no attempt to find out how old she was before any sexual activity took place. I concluded you just didn't care because you wanted to have sex with her irrespective of her age." Birmingham Crown Court was told Denham has autism and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) that are linked to his "offending". Callum Church, defending, said: "He wants to build a life and wants to get away from Birmingham and the situation he found himself in and attempt to make something of his life. "He is an intelligent young man despite his difficulties."
