Gemma Atkinson has hit back at trolls after being shamed for what she lets her daughter Mia watch on the TV. The Hollyoaks star received negative feedback from a fellow parent after sharing a photo of the adorable four-year-old looking at CrossFit games. Gemma, 38, took to her Stories later to defend her decision and set the record straight, admitting that she's 'baffled' by the backlash to Mia's TV preferences. The controversy start when one of her 1.9m Instagram followers DM'd the former soap actress if she's not worried that Mia will become 'body conscious' by watching the 2023 CrossFit games, before warning that exposure to such material could cause children to develop 'eating problems'. They also said that youngsters should be watching 'kids programmes', rather than sports-themed shows aimed at adults. "The 'should be watching kids programmes' baffled me a little," the mum-of-one wrote. "One of our friends is one of the best CrossFit athletes in the world and whenever she's been to stay with us, Mia has looked up to her in awe of her physical strength and capabilities in regards to gymnastics etc." Gemma also said that she and fiancé Gorka Márquez take Mia for pizza, ice cream and sweets every weekend, after insisting that the athletic infant 'CHOOSES' to watch CrossFit but also enjoys Come Dine With Me and The Yorkshire Vet. She went on to add that she and her Strictly Come Dancing beau have achieved 'the perfect balance' as parents and are not concerned about their daughter developing image issues. On Thursday, Gemma shared a throwback post of her and Gorka from vacation before having children. "My phones rubbing it in reminding me of that time 5 years ago today when we weren’t exhausted," she captioned the sweet update, which includes photos of the loved-up couple swimming, sunbathing and enjoying yummy food and drinks.
