United were the better team in the first half but struggled after the break as Ange Postecoglou 's Spurs produced a dominant display to earn their first three points under their new manager. The United captain - who missed a glorious chance to open the scoring early on - was furious after feeling aggrieved at his team seeing their penalty claims waved away when the match was level at 0-0. Argentinian winger Alejandro Garnacho burst forward, cutting in from the left and sending a shot goal-bound before it struck the outstretched arm of defender Cristian Romero. The incident was reviewed on VAR but no action was taken as referee Michael Oliver awarded a corner and play continued. The Portuguese playmaker wants an apology to be made to United for the decision against his team at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and issued a defiant call for action on Sky Sports after the match. 'Last week they made a big thing on United not having a penalty against them [Wolves],' said Fernandes. 'I want to see what's going to happen this week if it's going to happen the same show they did last week. 'I want to see if Jon Moss also comes to apologise to our dressing room like they said he did to the manager of Wolves,' he added. United's penalty claims were valid after the ball clearly struck the arm of Romero while he was inside the box. Tottenham's Argentinian centre-back had his positioned away from his body at the time and was leaning back with both hands raised in the air. Spurs would then go on to win the game as Pape Sarr and a Lisandro Martinez own goal clinched victory for the hosts. The officials that oversaw the match at Old Trafford were axed for this weekend's round of English top-flight fixtures. United will have a chance to redeem themselves from a difficult showing in London against Nottingham Forest next week. Meanwhile, Spurs will be hoping to make it two wins on the bounce when they travel to Bournemouth. Your browser does not support iframes.
