Australian mother Stacey Singles dies in Bali weeks after losing newborn son to genetic disorder Stacey and Danny Singles holidaying in Bali The young mum suddenly started suffocating Just weeks after the death of her newborn son By Charlotte Karp For Daily Mail Australia Published: 07:32 BST, 20 August 2023 | Updated: 09:27 BST, 20 August 2023 e-mail 14 shares View comments A family has been torn apart after a young mother suddenly had a 'fit' in bed and stopped breathing during a holiday in Bali - just weeks after the death of her newborn son. Stacey and Danny Singles were with their kids Audrey and Connor in a rented villa in Denpasar, on the Indonesian island's south, on Monday morning when the Brisbane mum started suffocating. Her husband performed CPR for about half an hour while their local nanny called an ambulance, before paramedics took over on the way to the hospital. Doctors did everything they could to save her life, but it was too late. Her death marked the second tragedy for the family in just three months, after their six-week-old son Cooper died from a genetic disorder in May. Pictured: Stacey and Danny Singles with their three kids, Audrey, Connor, and baby Cooper - who died at six months old About a week before they went away, Ms Singles asked for nanny recommendations and specified they should know CPR The family had holidayed in Bali before, and were nearing the end of their three-week trip when Ms Singles died. In mid-July, about a week before they left, the mum-of-three took to Facebook to ask for nanny recommendations in Seminyak and Sanur. In her post, she noted the nanny 'must know first aid, CPR, and can swim'. On Tuesday, the day after the tragedy, Mr Singles wrote a post on Facebook to tell his friends. 'My beautiful wife Stacey Singles passed away and is now with our beautiful boy Cooper in heaven,' he wrote. 'She was in bed in our villa in Bali, Stacey had a fit and stopped breathing I tried everything I could to save her.' 'The doctors tried everything they could but it was to late.' 'Myself, Connor and Audrey love you so much.' In another post, he said the situation was like a 'cruel nightmare' - 'I'm just going to wake up and you’ll be here,' he said. Caitlin Patterson, a close friend, set up a GoFundMe campaign to help ease the financial strain on the family. The family had been to Bali before (pictured), and were nearing the end of their holiday when Ms Singles passed away Stacey and Danny Singles are pictured, when she was pregnant with Cooper 'No family should ever have to go through this - Danny and the kids have to return home without their beautiful Stacey,' she wrote. 'Navigating life and coming back to reality is going to be extremely hard for Danny, Connor and Audrey. 'We are asking for help for Danny and their beautiful children while they find their feet, pay their bills, figure out how to go on and have a life without her.' Ms Singles was open about the loss of her son, Cooper - often taking to Instagram to speak about his condition and her family's loss. 'Our beautiful sweet Coops has been diagnosed with a rare genetic malformation called SCN2A,' she wrote in May. 'Due to how serve it is ... he will never come home with us and will join his family in the stars.' Mutations of the SCN2A gene are commonly associated with early-onset epilepsy, and have been linked to autism spectrum disorder and developmental delay. In the days after her death, friends and family flooded social media with tributes. Her cousin wrote on Instagram: 'My beautiful cousin, the strongest woman I know. How can this be true, this is not how it is supposed to be.' 'You heart was just so strong, stronger than it needed to be, until it was just too much.'
