Australia Post package travels 10,000km back and forth across Australia WA man's parcel travelled 10,000km across three states 'Monumental stuff up' from Australia Post, sender wrote READ MORE: Gold Coast man's parcel travels 18,000km despite being sent only TWO hours away from its destination By Hannah Wilcox For Daily Mail Australia Published: 04:26 EDT, 19 August 2023 | Updated: 04:26 EDT, 19 August 2023 e-mail 7 View comments A parcel has taken a major detour across three states and travelled almost 10,000km, leaving the frustrated sender in the lurch. The West Australian man shared on Facebook how his Perth-bound package ended up across the country in a 'monumental stuff-up' from Australia Post. Notified by the Australia Post app each time the parcel appeared to reach a new location, the man watched his package first arrive in Sydney , before being processed in Parkes, NSW . It was then processed in Brisbane before returning to its state of origin at the Boorna Wangkiny Mia branch in WA - but it didn't stop there. The West Australian man watched his parcel travel 10,000km across the country through his Australia Post app (pictured) The parcel once again returned to Parkes then went onto Kemps Creek, Seven Hills and finally Pendle Hills. 'Package is now on its way back to Sydney again,' the man wrote. 'It has now travelled more than 10,000 kilometres. Spoke to someone about it this morning to try and stop it.' He attempted to intercept the well-travelled package when it touched back down in Perth, but was told by Australia Post staff he was too late. The parcel travelled across three states, first stopping in NSW before being transported to Brisbane, back to WA and then returned to Parkes and onto Kemps Creek, Seven Hills and finally Pendle Hills (pictured, map) The man attempted to intercept the parcel when it passed back through WA, but was unsuccessful with Australia Post staff telling him he was 'too late' (pictured, stock) 'All I got was sorry - it left on the truck at 4am this morning, even after being promised I would receive it,' the man added. 'Anyhow, it's heading home now where it came'. The man claimed he received hardly any support from Australia Post and was forced to order a replacement. 'A replacement is being sent tomorrow, not by Australia Post,' he said. '(The) ombudsman has all the information required to launch a case against them.' The Australia Post website states delivery speeds depend on where the item is being posted to and from, and the level of restrictions and congestion in the delivery network. It claims regular parcel delivery service generally takes 2+ business days.
